Urban Bikeway Opens In Kakaako

Honolulu's second protected bike lane was opened on Wednesday in the urban core, improving access to the downtown and Kakaako areas. The bikeway running mauka-makai from King to Pohukaina streets then seaward to Ala Moana Boulevard, is near many of the new developing high-rises and the proposed future site of the Civic Center Rail Station. This South Street bikeway is the latest city initiative in an effort to give residents an alternative to fighting traffic while making Oahu more bike friendly.
